The Charitable Foundation for the Education of Nepalese Children
Inspired by Lisa’s travels in Nepal initially in 2004, particularly to more remote areas, the Charity was set up to support the education of children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to learn or have access to formal education. The Charity is non-religious and non-political and supports children of all ages, caste and gender.
CFENC funds the attendance of children at schools, colleges and universities, also providing stationery, books, laptops, uniforms, and sports equipment.
We have supported and funded school building works to remote mountain schools and one of our biggest achievements was the building of a school in the Solukhumbu district, in East Nepal.
From laying the first foundation stone, our school took a number of years to complete and was halted when nearing completion due to the major earthquakes of 2015. We finally opened our 'earthquake proof' school in 2016 and it is now attended by local children in an area where before there was little opportunity for formal education.

Nepal is prone to natural disasters including earthquakes, floods and landslides and we have also been able to assist in providing life-saving aid relief to remote villages, schools, refugee and health camps and have supported a family who lost everything, building them a home with enough land for them to keep an animal and grow their own food.

As the children advance through their education they progress to further education and we arrange funding / sponsorship to enable them to realise their dreams. Some of sponsored students have become for example a Doctor, a Nurse; others are studying to become an Architect and Accountant. Others are working in the community and therefore are supporting their own families.
If you would like to support our valuable work in Nepal, or sponsor a child individually then please contact us directly. The children love to interact and correspond with their sponsors and you will receive regular updates as to their progress. To see a child fulfil their dream is incredibly rewarding for us and their sponsor too!
We do appreciate that times are not easy - fundraising opportunities and securing donations are a challenge in the current climate but we fervently believe in helping some of the poorest children in the world achieve their dreams - can you help us?
Every donation, no matter how small, will help a child or young adult in Nepal.
Thank you or as the children in Nepal would say 'Dhanibhat'
What your donation could support….
An annual amount to support a child at school costs between £850 - £1800. This may depending on the career path chosen, progress to £5,000 per year for medical studies. This amount would include their hostel (if they board), meals, uniforms, education fees, stationery and excursions.
100% of each and every donation goes towards supporting the children. Any expenses incurred by Lisa and Peter in running the charity are paid for by themselves.
Our goals for the coming years include supporting:
• Funding more students to attend school - £850 - £1800 per year
• Funding students to attend College - +2 (A-Level) studies £700 - £1000 per year
• Funding students to attend University - up to £5000 per year
And more......
• Funding further school building works - approximately £10,000 per classroom
• Funding and providing remote schools with furniture, books, stationery, uniforms - approximately £5,000 - £10,000 per year
Could you help us to support a child?
We would love to hear from you.
Your support will help make a positive change to the life of a young person, to their families and to their community.
Let’s all help break the cycle of poverty and act for good.
